International Cat Day October 29

International Cat Day and National Cat Day

What’s the Difference?

National Cat Day in the US and Canada

In the US and Canada, National Cat Day is an awareness day to raise public awareness of cat adoption. Observed on the first Saturday of October, National Cat Day was created by animal advocate Colleen Paige in 2005.

International Cat Day

International Cat Day is not the same as National Cat Day; it takes place on August 8th. Effective since 3 August 2020, leading cat welfare charity International Cat Care became the custodians of International Cat Day.

Conclusion

Whether you celebrate International Cat Day on August 8th or National Cat Day on the first Saturday in October, these days raise awareness about the cats that need to be adopted all year round. Cats make wonderful companions and bring joy into our lives. So help a cat in need today by giving it a loving home!
