Demoulas Super Markets Inc. Acquires Former Showcase Cinema Site

Plan for Seven-Building Development

SEEKONK - DeMoulas Super Markets Inc., the operator of the Market Basket supermarket chain, has purchased the former Showcase Cinema property in Seekonk, Massachusetts. The company plans to develop the site with seven buildings, including a new Market Basket store.

The project will be built on nearly 17 acres of the former Showcase property, which is located off Route 6. The seven buildings will include a 80,000-square-foot Market Basket store, a 20,000-square-foot retail building, and five other buildings for a mix of retail, office, and restaurant uses.

The purchase of the Showcase property is a significant investment for DeMoulas Super Markets Inc. The company has been expanding its presence in the Seekonk area in recent years, and the new Market Basket store will be its third in the town.

The project is expected to be completed in 2024.
