Elected to the House of Representatives for Berowra New South Wales 2016
Opposition Indigenous Australians spokesman Julian Leeser resigns from the Liberal frontbench
Julian Leeser is a Liberal MP who has represented Berowra since 2016. He is a lawyer, a former councillor, and a Harvard alumnus.
Leeser announced his resignation in a statement on Sunday, saying that he had “lost confidence in the leadership of the Liberal Party.” He said that the party had “lost its way” and that he could no longer “in good conscience” remain on the frontbench.
Leeser’s resignation is a significant blow to the Liberal Party, which is already reeling from a series of recent scandals. The party is now facing a leadership crisis, with several MPs calling for the resignation of leader Peter Dutton.
Leeser’s resignation is likely to further destabilize the Liberal Party and make it even more difficult for the party to win the next election.
